Weekend classes meet
every Saturday for three hours per session. The LTTC-LI provides
both morning sessions, meeting 9:30am to 12:20pm, and
afternoon sessions, meeting 1:30 to 4:20pm. Courses run for
ten weeks, for 30 total class hours,
respectively. |

Important
Information:
1.
Basic Level English courses are appropriate for
students who are at a level consistent with the English
part-time levels 1 and 2 conversation courses at the LTTC-LI;
Intermediate English courses are appropriate for
students at Levels 3, 4, and 5; Upper-Intermediate
English courses are appropriate for students at levels 6
and 7; Advanced English courses are appropriate for
students at levels 7 and above. Basic Level
Japanese courses are appropriate for beginning students;
Intermediate Japanese courses are appropriate for
students who have completed approximately 200 hours of
instruction or more.
2.
When registering for weekend classes, only
students registering for writing classes are required to
take placement tests. Before registering, please
carefully consider the class meeting times, teaching
materials, and level before choosing a class appropriate
to your ability.
3.
If you request a refund before the first day of
the term, you will be refunded 75% of the tuition.
If you request a refund during the first third of the
term, you will receive a refund equal to half of the
tuition fee. No refunds are given after the first
third of the term has passed. If you wish to
transfer to another class, please bring it to the
attention of the office by the announced deadline; after
the deadline, no transfer requests will be honored.
4.
Classes are opened based on registration and
availability. The LTTC-LI reserves the right to open or
close classes as conditions warrant.
5.
Certificates of Attendance are awarded at the end
of the term to students who receive passing scores and
have not missed more than 25% of the class hours.
6.

In the intermediate Business Conversation
course, students learn the English skills they need to
operate in business settings. The vocabulary and
grammar are designed to help students become comfortable
in using English in different business situations. In
the high Business Conversation class, students focus on
appropriate behavior in social business settings.
Students analyze videotaped segments that feature right
and wrong ways to behave. A variety of role plays helps
students practice what they have discussed. |

in detail how to write a variety of paragraph styles,
including chronological, descriptive, and expository
development, and it teaches the basic rules of English
rhetoric. The course builds on itself throughout the

Problem Solving and Critical
Thinking

The Critical Thinking and Problem Solving course (CTPS) is
meant for advanced level language learners.
This course provides participants a unique opportunity to
not only continue the development of their language skills
but also further develop their problem solving and
critical thinking skills. The approach utilized in
the classroom is based on the principles of western adult
education. The
contents of the course include working in groups,
creativity, learning styles and community. |
| *Students coming to register
for writing classes should schedule an extra 30 minutes
for the Writing Placement Test. A nonrefundable fee
of NT$100 is charged for the test. |
