Brief Introduction to the Course Contents |
|
Conversation |
During
conversation classes, students are divided into pairs
and groups to practice. They are encouraged to take
part in role-plays and other activities that help them
improve their spoken English. As a result, everyone in
the class has ample opportunity to practice responding
to situations in English. The focus of the program is
on enabling students to respond correctly, clearly,
appropriately, and fluently no matter what situation
they may find themselves in. |
|
Reading
|
In reading courses,
students practice reading articles of varying
lengths on a variety of topics. The reading
selections cover a broad range of styles, from everyday
news articles to academic writings. The program
teaches how to understand the content of an article,
study vocabulary, recognize paragraph organization,
discern the overall topic and the main points, and how
to use context clues. At the same time, students improve their
abilities to discuss articles and form opinions. |
|
Writing
|
The goal of the writing courses is to
help students improve their writing skills so that
they can communicate clearly. The classes focus on
sentence structure, paragraph and essay organization, appropriate
use of grammatical structures, and rhetorical principles
of academic writing.
